Workplace Engagement

  • Effective use of space: access to natural light, collaborative spaces, and private meeting rooms.
  • Bring nature indoors, and integrating office space with outdoors. Studies have shown plans boost cognition and improve health.
  • Use tall ceilings, and strategically infuse colors.
  • Give employee’s ability to ‘control’ areas, including their workspace, to empower.
  • Allow for movement and flow, as during a workday we should be sitting no more than 2 hours.
  • Design for flexibility; workstations convert to standing desks, use moveable walls, large collaborative erasable boards, etc.
  • Provide brain healthy and nutritious snacks.

Happy Statistics

When we are happy and engaged, dopamine in the brain is increased and our brains work better. We are more likely to collaborate, be positive and creative, help others, solve problems, and engage in physical activities. (Diamond, 2009)

Happier individuals are healthier (Applied Psychology, Health and Wellbeing, 2017)

Engaged workers are less depressed, less stressed, and less anxious. (Gallup, 2010)
